The 384 Post Magnet Plate contains 96 Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) post magnets - one for each group of four wells. It is designed for 384 well PCR plates. We strongly recommend rigid plates (dual-component-plates) because simple PP-plates may warp - sometimes right out of the box, but certainly after thermocycling.
Rigid 384 -well PCR plates are available from three vendors:
- Bio-Rad Hard-Shell® plates
- Eppendorf twin.tec® plates
- 4titude FrameStar® plates
The ABgene Diamond Plate AB-1111 that we used to recommend here is no longer available, but the three models above all work very well.
Like all Alpaqua magnet plates, the 384 Post Magnet Plate contains patented* spring cushion technology to greatly simplify supernatant removal and eluate transfer.

The Alpaqua 384 Magnet Plate contains strong, Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) post magnets for efficient magnetic bead separations with automation in mind. They have an SBS footprint to fit into standard liquid handler plate nests, plate hotels and stackers as well as gripper grooves on the long sides to provide space for robotic arms or grippers when moving microplates on and off the magnet plates.
All Alpaqua magnet plates contain integrated Spring Cushion Technology. This technology allows plates to give way when tips come in contact with a well bottom, thus compensating for physical tolerances between labware and pipettors that can compromise precision aspiration.
