Keep pipetting the way you are used to. Proprietary slotted ring magnets concentrate magnetic beads in opposing arches near the bottom of microplate wells. This enables manual users to track pipet tips down the inside wall of the well. This reduces inadvertent bead aspiration and improves consistency while maintaining the ability to elute in as little as 10 μL.
Concern about bead aspiration is heightened when using multi-channel pipettes and when working in small or tall wells, such as in PCR- and deep well plates. The process is simplified and more robust with slotted ring magnets enabling tip tracking and more precise of aspiration. Rotate the slot direction in minutes to work in row or column format to maximize compatibility with various microtiter plate and multi- channel pipettor formats.
Use of PCR strip tubes requires the use of the PCR Strip Adaptor for optimum results.
Its does not. Catalyst magnet plates are designed for manual use. Customer feedback indicated that the additional ‘give’ of the plate upon tips reaching the bottom of the well afforded by Spring Cushion Technology was unnecessary when using manually.
Absolutely. While the slotted ring magnet format was designed to address manual user concerns, Catalyst plates have a standard SBS footprint and are fully compatible with most robotic platforms.
Please note that Catalyst plates do not have integrated Spring Cushion Technology which is beneficial when used on robotic platforms to compensate for Z’ position variability.
